Baby boomers as we know aren’t totally tech savvy however with technology advancing like never before. It is important for the next generations to understand with baby boomers in the work environment. Donna Fuscaldo author of “ How to get boomers and millennia’s working together” written on investopedia.com that generational differences in the work place have always been an issue, but when it comes to baby boomers and millennia’s, getting them to see eye to eye can be especially difficult. So as Donna explained its not only technology, but how millennial’s and baby boomers may over look situations and have their differences on problems that may arise in the work environment. Baby boomers and millennials often have vastly different views of work, which comes through in how they interact. For one thing, many baby boomers value a nice paycheck and other compensation while millennials care more about achieving a good work/life balance. Very interesting the Donna says that because if you ask both millinnials and baby boomers the same question they most likely will disagree. However if you get surveys out to both of them and have them answer the questions. It will certainly averagely show the same way Donna explains. Not only would it be difficult for the baby boomers and millennials, but for mangers and supervisors to authorize those kind of situations. It is important that manager’s start create ideas or systems to prevent those types of problems that will arise. “One of the easiest ways to create workplace harmony between baby boomers and millennials is to provide opportunities for them to get to know each other. It’s common in workplaces for younger employees to stick together while older, often more senior workers form their own social group. But if both groups have more regular contact, some generational misconceptions will start to evaporate.” Good relationships in a work environment can be difficult to achieve, even if everyone is part of the same generation. So when you mix baby boomers and millennials, sparks can fly if a company doesn’t handle it right. Each generation is an integral part of any successful company, so ignoring problems simply isn’t an option. Fostering an environment where stereotypes are stripped down rather than built up, collaboration is encouraged, and managers better understand their employees will go a long way in getting two seemingly polar opposite generations to work well together. In addition if everybody in the work environment agrees to work as a team play, and utilize their value to a company’s mission statement. It will prevent the chances of problems arising whether it be stereotyping or ethical backgrounds. The goals top management should have is to have a family oriented type of working environment. Having groups so that everyone can be adaptable with one another. As long as those guidelines are inputted subconsciously everyday into the employees minds so that they can overcome the facts of surveys and predictions to article written like “How to get boomers and millennials working together. So it is up to management to adjust and find strategies to solve and prevent problems.
